Website Analysis 3.

Channel 4 (Cooking It). URL; http://www.channel4.com/life/microsites/C/cookingit/index.html

This website is different as it has a small box in the top right corner asking the viewer what they want to look at. When the user has decided where they want to be, another navigation bar appears down the left hand side. This is slightly unconventional as the navigation bar is across the top and has a spry menu dropping from each section.
This website has a lot of information however when a new page is loading it does not let you know. This may then cause the user to get impatient with the site and end up causing a problem. When I clicked on a link to a recipe it went red however made no sign of changing pages. It took about 4 minutes before the page actual refreshed and reloaded.

This website is has a lot of colour at the top of the page and appropriate imagery to go with its purpose. However as we go further down the page the content slowly disappears and he screen becomes dull. The advertisement on the top of the page is annoying as it pops open when ever the mouse hovers near.
On some pages the navigation bar is quite dark and this then brings a slight dullness to the site. This has made me think of adding a bit of colour to mine when I create my own as I would not want to deter people from exploring.

When I was exploring this site I could not find any error and I was not alerted of any. Another thing I think I will change for my site is the fact that everything is all in one column and all so close and over fills the page. This site keeps all options open to the viewer as the small vertical spry menu on the left is there no matter what you want to view. This also helps to keep the users memory space free for other uses.

The usability of this website is very well and then the user can interact with the website fast. I think there is an accelerator hidden in the creation of this site as the videos upload fast and play as soon as the reader demands “play”. Another factor that make me think there is an accelerator is the fact that when you choose to change page the site take 5seconds to do so and also refreshes the URL.

This website has a search engine for the user to find specific items and also to get to places they want to be. When the user clicks on the food tab at the top of the website the page refreshes and opens up a section of the site about food and recopies. This then also has its own search bar for recopies. This website has very good terms and uses language very well. It does not use any technical terminology so the user can read the site well and fluently. This site is also very good for user interaction as it has videos and gives the user an opportunity to download application, such as the free Jamie Oliver timer.
